From Coast to Deep Ocean – Making Sense of Changing Seas.
National Oceanography Centre exists to make sense of changing seas, upon which future human prosperity and wellbeing depends. The way in which we intend to achieve our mission is by
- Undertaking and enabling world-class science and technology development;
- Providing large research facilities and access to data and samples for the benefit of UK science
- Creating value and public benefit by supporting, with scientific evidence, the development of public policy, hazard assessment, ocean governance and regulation, and sustainable development
What’s the innovation?
Working with our partners the NOC is at the forefront of developing novel Marine Autonomous Systems for exploration of new ocean frontiers. These technologies are transforming the way we operate at sea and have applications across a wide variety of established (defence, offshore energy) and emerging (deep-sea mining, aquaculture) sectors that will reduce costs and deliver improved information products.
