#VFS22 Innovator of the Year Award Winner Interview: Sean Larsen
During #VFS22, Labl.it pitched its simple solution for a simple problem faced in the hospitality and catering industry – an effortless print labelling tool for commercial kitchens.
The team of experienced restaurateurs created the hand-held Labl.it printer to combat inadequate food labels, often hand written, which were causing potential compliance concerns and food wastage. By easily producing and printing compliant food labels, kitchen staff can focus on delivering the best service to their customers, rather than worrying about monotonous admin tasks.
It’s an innovative solution to creating a safer and faster way of managing food labels.
Co-founder of Labl.it, Sean Larson, said:
“We were very pleased to be recognised as Innovator of the Year and we received many more congratulations over the following days after the event.”
Since winning the Innovator of the Year Award in November 2022, Labl.it has continued to grow its product offering.
During the Battle of the Pitches final, Labl.it mentioned that they plan on further developing their SaaS business by introducing new function models. They have now launched two new software versions, offering batch dates on labels and new label formatting options. Their new function model is also under development, which will allow remote fridge temperature readings to be taken automatically.
Looking back at VFS22, Labl.it proudly say that their best memory of the event was winning the Innovation of the Year Award.
Lastly, we asked Labl.it for future advice for start-up businesses wanting to attend VFS…
“Two very simple bits of advice we’d give are: “Turn up and get involved!”.
