Watercress Research Ltd is a phytochemical research company specifically focussing on the Watercress plant (Nasturtium Officinale). Watercress contains multiple bacterial urease inhibitors which block the formation of ammonia from urea. On the skin, ammonia causes irritation and fungal growth, as seen in incontinence associated dermatitis. We have created an extract to concentrate these molecules, and maximise isothiocyanate levels which have an ammonia scavenging and unique anti-inflammatory property through regulation of Toll-like receptor signalling pathways. All these functions combined, make for a unique, soothing, irritation preventing extract which we have incorporated into the Prof & Doc skin care range.
As a pre-revenue, start-up company, Venturefest South gives us the opportunity to network with potential investors, collaborators and customers. We want to identify where we are strongest and the areas of our business that need more attention. For us, with a launch approaching in December, VentureFest helps generate brand awareness and stimulate conversation around our business, which will hopefully transfer into increased sales. We’re constantly looking out for potential partners and learning from our peers, so to have everyone under one roof for the day is a fantastic networking opportunity. We’re also fascinated to see what’s going on in the South!
