Qualified as barrister with a civil practice moved in-house originally to a high tech start up now in a senior management role in the University of Southampton supporting research and innovation. Lead teams that provide specialist advice on all research commercialisation and intellectual property matters including high tech start- ups, spinouts, licensing and enterprise. Programme lead for impact acceleration funding and collaborative innovation projects. Experience of a number of industry sectors including health & pharmaceutical, aerospace & defence, and IT. Lead on a number of industry/university collaborative initiatives, has extensive experience of cross border and international collaborations including structuring for major programmes and for multi party involvement.
A key objective is to enable great innovations to get out and create the maximum benefit to society. That includes ensuring legals enable not stifle. That involves listening, thinking and finding creative solutions. Innovation benefits from collaborative working which in turn needs us to aim for the win-win and strive for the solution to meet all parties needs as best we can.
