BAE Systems sponsors Code First Girls CFGdegree to encourage greater workplace diversity
18th May 2022
VFS headline sponsor, BAE Systems is partnering with Code First Girls, one of the largest providers of free coding courses for women in the UK, to sponsor its CFGdegree programme.
The 13-week, industry-approved course offers career pathways into a variety of technology roles to help encourage more women into STEM careers. BAE Systems is sponsoring this summer’s CFGdegree course that offers 15 students the skills they need to start an exciting career in software engineering.
The CFGdegree training is delivered by Code First Girls, with mentoring support and guest lecture spots provided by BAE Systems. Once students have graduated, they will have the option of being fast-tracked into a BAE Systems graduate recruitment scheme, which could result in them joining the company as junior software engineers.
BAE Systems invests approximately £100 million a year in skills and training in the UK. The company is committed to improving diversity and has set an ambition that more than 30% of its UK workforce will be women by 2030. The partnership with Code First Girls is being led by BAE Systems’ new Digital Intelligence business, which was established earlier this year and brings together the company’s more than forty years’ experience across digital, data, cyber and intelligence capabilities.
