Help put the South Coast’s Creative Economy on the map
Innovation doesn’t only happen in laboratories, tech hubs and start-ups. It happens in design studios, marketing agencies, production companies, games developers, creative freelancers, cultural organisations and businesses using creativity to solve problems every day.
That’s why our partners at Southern Creative Catalyst have launched a major new research project to better understand the creative economy across the South Coast – and they’re looking for people and businesses to get involved.
Why this matters
The research is being delivered by Southern Creative Catalyst, the RSA, the University of Southampton and the Creative Industries Policy & Evidence Centre (Creative PEC).
Together, they are building a clearer picture of the creative businesses, freelancers, organisations and talent that contribute to our regional economy. The findings will help shape future policy, investment and support programmes, ensuring the region’s creative sector is recognised and represented at a local, national and international level.
Who should take part?
The project is seeking input from people working across the creative economy, including:
- Creative businesses and agencies
- Freelancers and sole traders
- Marketing and communications professionals
- Software and games developers
- Artists and craftspeople
- Cultural organisations
- Creative professionals working within non-creative sectors
Whether you’re running an established business, building a start-up or working independently, your perspective will help create a more complete picture of the region’s creative landscape.
What’s involved?
The research will take place across several stages, including:
- Creative sector mapping
- Interviews with businesses and organisations
- A wider industry survey
- Roundtable discussions
The findings will be published later this year and used to inform how public, academic and commercial organisations support creative growth across the region.
