Dr Hannah Cook is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCL and a Plastic Surgery Registrar at the Royal Free Hospital, London. With a clinical and academic focus on reconstructive surgery, global health, and innovation, her work aims to advance health equity and investigate the social and structural determinants of health when delivering and developing plastic surgical care.
She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and presented more than 15 original research projects at national and international conferences. Her research portfolio spans wound care and innovative wound therapies, breast reconstruction, health system improvement and public health, with a growing emphasis on equitable access to surgical care. Previous innovations have won first place at national hackathons.
Dr Cook currently serves as Research Lead for both the Plastic Surgery Trainee Association (PLASTA) and the Trainees of the David Nott Foundation. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She founded the PLASTA and Royal Free Medical Student Research Scholarship Programme and is a previous programme chair of the Quality Improvement Southwest international conference.
Alongside her academic and clinical roles, she remains actively engaged in global health initiatives, with clinical and research experience with NGOs in Greece and East Africa.
