Currently, there are more than 500 local government service directory websites across England – all disconnected and limited in functionality when compared to other platforms to which parents and carers are familiar.  With free childcare and flexible working patterns becoming more common, there is a growing and urgent need for childcare to be more flexible and for parents to have access to better online search tools for a wide range of family services.  However, austerity measures and limited local authority budgets have resulted in a disconnected family information ecosystem, offering little improvement or innovation in the last decade.  Famiio is working to establish a new national ecosystem that:
1)  makes it possible to join up these legacy platforms.
2)  provides novel search functions for flexible and blended childcare and family services.
3)  empowers parents and families to self-serve and make informed choices to meet their unique family needs.

4)  enables local authorities to better meet information statutory duties.

This new infrastructure will provide a step-change in search functionality, data quality and savings to both local authorities and the taxpayer of £3m – £160m per year.
